A UK reinsurer, running real underwriting on Smartek InsureX today.
Not a pilot. Not a proof of concept. This is what Smartek InsureX looks like in daily use, at a live reinsurance business.
Company name withheld at the customer's request. Every figure below reflects live, current usage.
What the platform actually does here
The full underwriting operation runs through Smartek InsureX — not a single module bolted onto an existing system.
Broker submissions
Incoming submissions are monitored automatically, with AI-assisted extraction turning broker documents into structured risk data.
Underwriting workflow
Every risk moves through the same tracked path — submission, assessment, approval, bind, renewal — with a full audit trail at each stage.
Governance
Line size limits are set at binder level, with a two-tier supervisory structure routing higher-value risks to the right approver automatically.
Catastrophe modelling
An in-house CAT modelling capability, currently in beta, supports underwriting assessment alongside professional judgement.
Finance & reporting
Debit notes, payment tracking, and live portfolio reporting run from the same underlying risk data — no separate reconciliation step.
How a risk actually moves through the system
Submission arrives
A broker submission lands in the underwriting mailbox and is picked up automatically.
Structured risk created
AI-assisted extraction turns the submission into a structured risk record for the underwriter to review.
Underwriter assesses
The underwriter reviews the extracted information, applies judgement, and progresses the risk — every AI output checked by a person before it's relied on.
Approval routes automatically
Depending on value, the risk is approved directly or routed to the appropriate supervisor — without anyone needing to remember which threshold applies.
Bind, finance, and reporting follow through
Once bound, the risk feeds finance operations and portfolio reporting automatically — the same record, start to finish.
This is the platform we're bringing to market
Smartek InsureX wasn't designed on a whiteboard for a hypothetical customer. It was built to run a real reinsurance operation, and it's still running one today. When we talk about what the platform can do, we're describing what it's already doing — not what we hope it will do eventually.

Smart Sat: damage assessment, from above
Smart Sat turns satellite imagery into a claims ready damage assessment, not just a picture to interpret yourself. Findings link directly into the risk and claims records already held in the Smartek Reinsurance Platform and the Takaful platform, so a damage assessment from Smart Sat becomes part of the same record an underwriter or claims handler is already working from.
